The CCME will engage in the key major markets of O&G, petrochemicals and electric power in cross-disciplined and collaborative technical and innovation research. Engineering, natural science, computational and data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence, as well as systems modeling and optimization will be central to impacting the key areas of impact across all the segments of the key markets such as:

• Construction, distribution, operations and delivery
• Consumer end use products and services
• GHG monitoring and measurement
• CO2 capture, storage and assurance of safe and permanent storage
• Utilization of CO2 and CH4 through process intensification end use optimization in chemicals and oil recovery
• Storage of energy and options for integrating renewable and alternative energy
• Direct air capture and innovative emissions reduction technologies
• Modularization of process and electricity generation of energy to utilize hydrocarbons for products and reduce emissions

Policy, Law & Regulations

The new low carbon future will demand a new approach to both assurance of performance and compliance to new regulations. Market Innovation will demand new products and services that will require assurance of quality and performance in lower carbon offerings. Transactional and warrantied performance related to carbon footprint and life cycle analysis will be required. New tax and legal regimes (such as 45Q for CCUS) will be implemented and will require change and improvement over time.

Regulatory changes will also drive compliance and the ability to warrant performance standards and operational excellence. Carbon management will impact plant performance standards, vehicle performance, building and manufacturing standards, etc. Regulatory standards will change and the CCME will be a central convener and thought leader to inform such policies.

Differentiated products and low carbon services and technologies will be introduced in global markets that will have regional differences. All aspects of the energy system will be impacted from suppliers and producers, to marketers and traders, and finally in the consumer world both industrial, commercial and retail. The CCME will utilize the broad and unbiased research and educational channels for the advancement of Sustainable Energy in Society. We will promote continuous education through workshops and symposiums and leverage the Houston marketplace and its global reach in energy.

We will impact:

The existing workforce in need of continuous skill development, the workforce of the future, and to the stakeholders in the Energy marketplace that must utilize the most advanced and current skills. Our curriculum will be designed for executive education and short courses for the existing workforce, informing civic and governmental leaders, as well as for degreed programs both undergraduate and graduate developing the workforce of the future.
